Q&A With Coach Gemma

Coach Janelle
Hey, I’m Gemma, and I’m a running coach who believes running isn’t about perfection, pace, or pushing yourself into burnout. It’s about connection, freedom, and self-love—love for your body, your story, and all the messy, beautiful growth along the way.
A: I started running to lose weight, but that goal quickly fell away when I realized the real gift was so much deeper. Running gave me longevity, happiness, strength, and clarity—and now, I help others find that same joy in their own unique way.
I wasn’t always a runner. In fact, I was a smoker who genuinely thought, “Why would I ever run?” But one day, I gave it a go. I ran my first 1km, stopped, and immediately rang my husband to share the news—I couldn’t believe I did it. I wanted to shout it from the rooftops. And I haven’t stopped since. If I can do it, so can you.
A: Your reason for running doesn’t have to match anyone else’s. Maybe you’re chasing peace, healing, community, clarity—or maybe you’re just curious. Running is one of the few things that puts you face to face with yourself, and what you learn out there on the road or trail can be life-changing.
A: My coaching style is chill, intuitive, and rooted in real life. I believe in:
Rest (it’s part of the plan!)
Listening to your body
Pivoting when life gets chaotic
Training smarter, not harder
Slowing down to build strength
Compassion over comparison
We’re not elite athletes, and we don’t need to train like we are. Most of us are just trying to live well, move a little more, and enjoy the process. So let’s take the pressure off.
When you work with me, you’re getting more than a plan—you’re getting someone who really sees you. I’m deeply intuitive, always picking up on small signs that something might need adjusting. I personalize training, even day by day if needed. If you’re unmotivated, overwhelmed, or unsure, that’s when I show up the most. If life gets messy, I’ll help you work around it. If you just need someone to say, “You’re doing amazing,” I’m here for that too.
Because having a coach is like having your own personal cheerleader—and I’ve got you.
Want to meet for a business chat with a side of endorphins? Or maybe a wine and a whine? I’m totally in. However you connect best, I’ve got you covered.
A: Reach out, ask your questions, and let’s connect on a real level. Let’s figure out how I can support you on your running journey.
You can message me anytime at happyrunningforlife@gmail.com or @gem_s_miles—no pressure, no commitment, just a real conversation about where you’re at and where you want to go.
Because running isn’t just about results. It’s about building a relationship with yourself. And I’m here to help you make it a really good one.
